The Purpose of this blog....

Ok, so the purpose of this blog was so that I could write down my thoughts when I'm feeling sad, depressed, angry etc. Thinking that maybe it would be helpful in channeling the negative to positive, blah, blah, blah. BUTT something much more magical happened. Before I even began my first blog, I started reading 'nail polish blogs'! Since reading those I've been much happier. This is not to say that I don't still have bad days &/or moments - just not as many. LOL
Those closest to me know that I might not always have my nails painted. BUTT, my toenails are ALWAYS painted. I've always had an assortment of pretty nail polishes at any given time & have always aspired to keeping my nails properly manicured. However, life seemed to get in the way. Getting back to the blogs - I've been so inspired by them that my nails(finger) have been painted daily ever since I started reading the nail polish blogs. Although it's true, I love to go for professional mani's & pedi's(who doesn't love being pampered), I've been having a glorious time painting my own nails & trying different colors etc.
Unfortunately due to different circumstances in my life at any given time, when I began reading the blogs my nail polish collection had sadly dwindled to 25 or less bottles. BUTT to anyone who has ever read a nail polish blog(NPB) that is a truly sad amount! Since my early  days of NPB I am proud to say I now own close to 175 pretty bottles of 'lovely lady lacquer' as I like to refer to it sometimes. The collecting of these pretties is not as simple as one might think. Especially since I live in a small rural area with the closest large city being approx. 70 some miles away. Therefore I must resort to online shopping & eBay(evil bay). Some of you are probably thinking, why doesn't she go to Wal*Mart or Target aren't you? Well let me explain - the closest Wal*Mart is a 'small' version of what most of you are used to & the closest Target is 40 or 50 some miles away. Same goes for Walgreens as well. Ok so much for my rural existance & collecting of my obsession(yes it has truly become an obsession).
Now for the down side. Why does there always have to be a down side???? A down side you say? Yes, unfortunately there is. Well, at least to some degree. The down side is the cost of nail lacquer isn't what it used to be. Even drugstore brands are $7 & $8 a bottle. Then there's Deborah Lippmann that goes for $16 & $18 per, butterLONDON goes for $14 & lets not forget Nars, MAC, Chanel, Dior etc. In fact, unless you become a nail polish addict there's an entire new world of nail polish companies out there that the average person has no idea exists. Not to mention the discontinued bottles of polish that go for $60 & up on eBay!!! Don't believe me? Go ahead & search for OPI's My Private Jet (the original holographic version) or better yet Clarins #230 on ebay & see for yourself. Yes, I do own OPI's MPJ(the original holo version & no I will not divulge what I paid for it. All I can say is that I love it & it was worth every penny!! =P

BTW at the time of this post I currently have Illamasqua's Baptiste on my nails which are tippped with Sally Hansen's Gilty Pleasure. A fabulous 'funky' french manicure if I do say so myself
